Paul Harlyn is a producer, piano player, synthesist, sound designer, studio owner, and arranger. But his specialty is working with artists and singer-songwriters. From concept to the finished master, Paul helps the artists he works with bring out their musical vision.
Paul's musical projects cover a wide range of styles and influences. As a re-mixer for major labels, he has played all of the instruments on the re-mixes of the Alicia Keys song “If I Ain't Got You” (J records), the Mary J. Blige song “To Be Real” (Geffen Records), and the Angie Stone song ”Come into my Life” (BMG records).
An ADDY award was recently awarded to Paul for Producing and Composing a Radio commercial for the town of Ft. Myers, Florida.
As an artist, Paul has released three nationally distributed world music CD's under the project name "Great Barrier". The song “Cairo” off of his first CD was released on Buddha Bar Vol. 2 (Buddha Bar Records) that has had sales of over 450,000 units. Recently Clubland Records released a chill out CD called Sheeva Lounge with three of Paul's songs on it.
As a Film/Video composer, Paul scored and wrote the songs for the PBS series "Weezy's Wild Adventure", the children's video series "Dollhouse" and the documentary "Portrait of John Noble". He also writes the music and records the voice-overs for radio commercials.
Paul has also worked as a Pro Tools editor for the Walt Disney World Music Department, and at Disney's Post Production Department, recording Foley on the TV Series "Sheena", and mixing the music for the video "On The Beam".
As a producer and keyboard player, Paul has worked with indie band poppyseed, dance artist Colonel Abrams, EPIC recording artist Culture Beat, and many others. All the instruments on J.M. Dorthan's Brazilian hit single “Guantanamera” on POLYGRAM we performed by Paul at his studio. He also re-mixed the track "No Limits" by the international sensation "2 unlimited".
Paul now resides in central Florida after working in NYC for 15 years.
